2012 Ethyl Grants
Now in its eleventh year, the Ethyl Grant program provides matching grants to OPASTCO member telephone companies that are involved with projects aimed at bettering their communities. The grants, ranging from $500 - $2,500 are awarded throughout the year. An estimated $10,000 in funding is available in 2012. Applications can be downloaded by clicking on the below link. The program is sponsored by Bennet & Bennet, PLLC and Ericsson.

In 2012, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, and will be reviewed at least three times a year.

2012 Ethyl Grant Recipients
Shentel Company in Edinburg, VA nominated Stonewall Jackson High School for a grant of $500. The Ethyl Grant will assist to fund "Integrated Tablet Technology for 21st Century Learners," a pilot program that will provide tablet PCs to high school students in order to facilitate and improve student learning retention.
Ritter Communication in Jonesboro, AR nominated the City of Jonesboro City Stars Youth Sports Program for a grant of $2,500. The City Stars Youth Sports Program will purchase 500 uniforms for students’ ages 5-19 who participate in no cost soccer and basketball programs.
2011 Ethyl Grant Recipients
Oregon Farmers Mutual Telephone Company in Oregon, MO nominated the Kiwanis Club of Oregon, Missouri, for a grant of $2,500. Oregon Farmers Mutual Telephone Company and the Kiwanis Club will use the funds to build a ball field at Welty Park in Oregon, Missouri.
Ritter Communications in Marked Tree, AR nominated the Foodbank of Northeast Arkansas for a grant of $2,500. Ritter Communications and the Foodbank of Northeast Arkansas will be distributing backpacks filled with food for needy students who may not have access to nutritious food over the weekend.
The Middleburgh Telephone Company in Middleburgh, NY nominated the Middleburgh 300th Anniversary Committee for a grant of $2,500. The Anniversary Committee will be working with Middleburgh Central School on a video documenting the history of the town.
Panhandle Cooperative Telephone Company, Inc in Guymon, OK nominated the Texas County Youth Shelter for a grant of $2,500. The Youth Shelter is a service that is not being provided by the county at this time. By providing it they are hoping to resolve workload issues with social workers in the area, and provide a safe place nearby to take children.
Otelco Mid-Missouri in Pilot Grove, MO nominated the Blackwater R-II School for a grant of $2,357.50. The Blackwater R-II School will use the money to install heating systems into 2 restrooms in the school’s original structure which did not have heat. The school is used for many community activities, and this will make it much easier to host events during the winter months.
